1. Summary
- 500channels has no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, password or payment details.
- Favourites, watch history and settings are stored only on your device.
- The app doesn't request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone or files.
- Video streams come straight from third-party servers, which can see your IP address, like any website you visit.
- If ads are shown, Google's ad technology may use your device's advertising ID. You can reset or delete it in Android settings.
2. Information stored on your device
To work, the app keeps the following on your phone. It is not sent to us.
- Your activity: channels you favourite, channels you recently watched (for Continue watching) and your settings, such as hiding off-air channels or turning off the live preview.
- The channel list: channel names, numbers, logos, languages and stream addresses, plus the result of the app's stream checks (which channels are currently live).
This information stays until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. See Delete data.
3. Information shared when the app connects
Like any internet app, 500channels makes network requests. Each server it talks to receives your IP address and basic technical details such as the app's user agent.
- Channel list: the app downloads the public channel list and channel information published by the open-source iptv-org project (hosted on GitHub).
- Video streams and logos: when you watch or preview a channel, and when the app checks whether a stream is live, it connects directly to that channel's broadcaster or stream host. Channel logos load from their own image hosts. These third parties have their own privacy practices, which we don't control.
500channels does not currently use third-party analytics or crash-reporting services.
4. Advertising
500channels is free and may show ads. Ads are delivered using Google's Interactive Media Ads (IMA) SDK and Google's ad services. When an ad is requested, Google and its partners may collect information such as your IP address, device and app information, and your device's advertising ID, to deliver, measure and limit the frequency of ads.
You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's settings (usually Settings › Privacy › Ads, or Settings › Google › Ads). Learn more in how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
5. When you contact us
If you email us or use a form on this website (which opens your own email app), we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply and help you, and we keep it for as long as needed for that purpose or as the law requires.
6. This website
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Fonts are served from our own host. Our hosting provider processes standard server logs, such as IP addresses and pages requested, to deliver and secure the site.
7. How we share information
We don't sell personal information. Because we don't hold accounts or viewing histories, there is very little for us to share. We may disclose information we hold:
- to comply with law, a court order or a lawful request from authorities;
- to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public or strongmetrics;
- as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
8. Children
500channels is a general-audience app. Some channels are made for children, but we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are under 18, please use the Service with a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
The app uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections where available and hides channels with unencrypted streams by default. No system is perfectly secure, but the less we collect, the less there is to protect, and we collect very little.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may have the right to access, correct or erase personal data we hold about you, withdraw consent, and raise a grievance.
- Clear or delete on-device data at any time from Android settings, or by uninstalling the app.
- Reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in Android settings.
- Email [email protected] to ask about data we hold, such as your emails to us.

12. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change, for example if we add a new service provider, and change the date at the top. For significant changes we will also post a notice on the home page of this website.
